This cap starts as a commercially manufactured OCP/Multicam mesh cap. Sewsan’s changes one part by hand: the lower rear strap. Here is what that change is and what to check before you order.

What has been changed?

A standard cap like this closes at the back with a Velcro strap. You set the length yourself, and it stays there until you change it.

On this cap, Sewsan’s removes the lower rear Velcro strap and sews elastic in its place. That creates a flexible opening at the back with more room for a ponytail or bun. The front and top hook-and-loop panels stay intact.

Sewsan’s doesn’t manufacture the base cap. Each one is altered individually by hand.

How does the opening accommodate hair?

The opening is formed at the lower rear of the cap, where the Velcro strap was removed. A ponytail or bun has room there instead of meeting a fixed strap.

The product page describes the opening as giving hair more room, not as a fit for every hairstyle. Hair length, thickness, and the position of your ponytail or bun all vary, and the photo shows one example. Compare it with how you usually wear your hair.

How does the modified cap fit?

Elastic and a Velcro strap adjust differently. A Velcro strap is manually adjustable: you choose the length. Sewn-in elastic stretches within its range, so the cap adjusts to the wearer without you setting a length.
